Use the colours of nature to inspire your decorating scheme. Play with the sky, sea and sand to form a dreamy coastal colour scheme. A weathered, faded look is the essence of a coastal theme for your home, think bleached and dip-dyed linens and fabrics. Bring the colours of the seaside into your home and channel coastal chic with calming whites and cool shades of blue. Punctuate this nautical scene with candle holders and accessories in a similar colour palette.
A limited footprint shouldn’t impact on your creative flair. If your bathroom is verging on the small side, consider using freestanding furniture that you can move around at a moment’s notice. Going for freestanding storage and seating allows you to move your scheme around whenever you like and, unlike fitted bathroom units, you can take freestanding pieces with you when it’s time to move out.
Get a cheerful look using aquatic brights and create a dynamic scheme by covering a feature wall in a reef-inspired design – a coral print will bring back that holiday feeling. Combine energising turquoise and verdant green for a vibrant, modern look. A bold palette like this lends itself to a scheme with a Miami beach vibe – think modern, stylish furniture and glamorous, white, high-gloss finishes. Calm the lively pattern by painting the adjacent walls in a soothing palette of white. Finish off the look with fabulous sea finds. Position them organically as though they’ve washed up on shore amongst coral and sand-beaten glass, as well as watery glazes and sea urchins for a super-chic stylised look.
How grand is this basin? Marble is not a cheap material, but even just a little will inject a classy feel into your look. The large basin, traditional wall-mounted taps and a wooden vanity unit make this bathroom far from ordinary. Natural materials are always beautiful and combining two of them together works a treat. Re-create this look yourself by upcyling an old wooden cabinet and adding a marble countertop and splashback to shield it from water damage.
