The helical staircase is not just a functional element in the design of the house but also a sculptural feature which increases its visual appeal and overall elegance while remaining space-efficient. Its main role is that of offering access to the two mezzanine platforms. There’s one at either end of the structure and each has its own function. One of the platforms serves as the main sleeping area while the other is a workspace.
The overall design is defined by strong and obvious curves, featuring a V-shaped floor plan that frames a courtyard with its wings. The interior spaces seamlessly flow together, featuring curved walls, dividers and even gently arched ceilings. There’s nothing standard about this house yet you wouldn’t really be able to tell that by looking at it from the street, mainly because it’s difficult to even spot it from there.
